Your outfits will play a BIG role in the "feel" your photos will have, so you should really choose them wisely.

You are having a photosession because you want to capture some important memories with your loved ones, and the protagonists should be you, not your clothes. Your outfits should not be standing out more than you do. And I don't just mean avoiding bright colours. If your outfits don't match each other colouristically, your photos will look messy and the clothes will be standing out in a bad way. Of course, that does not mean that you all have to wear the same colour. You can totally wear more than one colour, as long as they complement each other.

Below are some more specific tips that will help you in choosing your outfits:

  • The best colours to wear are neutrals and natural colours (off-whites, beiges, creams, browns, soft pinks, greys, greens, khakis and blues) that don't stand out too much.
  • Wear soft, flowing fabrics that show a lot of movement.
  • Multiple layers and textures look very nice too (i.e. putting an oversized jumper or a cardigan over your dress or shirt).
  • As for the hair and make-up, a minimalistic approach is the best. Let your hair down or put them up in a loose messy bun. Use light coverage make-up or none at all.

Things to avoid when choosing your outfits:

  • Any large prints or patterns on your clothing, any lettering/brand logos, or bright or neon colours.
  • Wearing jeans, tracksuits, or black colours is not advisable.
  • Make sure you remove your watch or any wristbands/elastic bands from your wrists before the photoshoot.
  • It's best to not wear any jewellery, or if you do, make sure it's minimal and doesn't stand out too much.
  • Avoid high heels, or any heels for that matter. Wear something comfortable to walk on the grass in.
